Ray Pavlove presents the Parry Sound Centennial Time Capsule Project

This presentation will highlight the Parry Sound Centennial Time Capsule Project, developed by Ray Pavlove and made possible by the community of Parry Sound.

Time Capsule Project: On February 3, 1987, Ray Pavlove of William Beatty Public School requested the school’s time capsule project be endorsed by the Town of Parry Sound’s Centennial Celebrations. Modules were promoted and sold by students, and supported by the West Parry Sound District Museum, the Parry Sound District School Board, the Parry Sound Area Chamber of Commerce and surrounding municipalities.

Unlike traditional one-container time capsules, 229 small modules were created, allowing more members of the community to share and preserve their concepts of Parry Sound’s history and heritage. The time capsule now resides on Tower Hill and is to be opened on April 23, 2087 with all contents being donated to the Museum’s collections.

Fees
Fees for the Genealogical Club includes 9 meetings throughout the year, presentations from guest lecturers and digitizing the Parry Sound North Star collection. Prices are $40 per year, $20 for those with an Annual Pass to the Museum or $6 for individual meetings.
