About the Artist

We moved to beautiful Parry Sound in 1988 where I fell in love with Georgian Bay in its many states. It can be a tranquil, calm sea or a tempest within minutes. Paddling allows one to reconnect with and watch nature even if no photographs are taken.

My first camera in 1978 complimented my love of the outdoors. I started out taking snapshots, soon realizing that there were rules and guidelines to learn. From there I began to make pictures that spoke to the journey, that led to slide shows that told a story. As an avid member of the Huntsville Camera Club I was able to learn many things and translate this knowledge into numerous awards in regional competitions.

I have taken frequent work shops, courses, and read numerous magazines and online works. Being the facilitator/resource person on White Squall’s Annual Kayak Photography Trips for over 10 years has been a privilege and source of many of my images. My work has been in a variety of venues, Artists Around the Sound, Charles Stockey Centre, Artistic Endeavours, Boutique on the Bay, Canadore College, Trestle Brewery as well as on a number of billboards located in the Parry Sound region.

As a photographer with thousands of slides I’m enjoying the creative opportunities that digital photography has allowed. Delving into the printing of my work I have enjoyed the challenges and opportunities to learn that this has brought. My computer has become my ‘Darkroom’. Along with landscape and wildlife work, I do weddings, family photographs and donate my time and expertise documenting a number of local community events. I’ve been published regularly in editions of Parry Sound Sideroads magazine (now Parry Sound Life) as both a photographer and writer since my retirement from education. Sharing my passion with students at Canadore College with an introductory course I designed has been wonderful!

Being actively involved in a number of summer markets over the last 3 years has allowed me sell work both locally and around the world. I’ve done the Rosseau Market, Parry Sound Market, Art in the Park, McKellar Market, Carling Market as well as the Downtown Market. First year at the Dockside Festival in Gravenhurst.
