This November, the Museum will be opening an escape room experience for a limited time!

This is a digital, touchless experience where teams of up to 6 individuals bring their own smart device (smart phone or tablet) to solve puzzles hidden throughout the gallery. Based on a true story of a local Parry Sounder, the escape room will take you on the journey of Adam Brown - Red Rock Lighthouse keeper from 1897-1937.

The Story

Red Rock lighthouse keeper, Adam Brown, remained imprisoned three weeks after the close of the 1903 season. Brown was supposed to have been removed from the lighthouse but a ship did not arrive. Stuck in the ice-encrusted lighthouse, Brown decided to break out and make the journey rather than spend Christmas alone. After heading out on the icy rock, Brown managed to free a row boat and launch it in the frigded waters of Georgian Bay. Brown attempted to row to the mainland, but got caught up in large slabs of floating ice. Unable to navigate his way, Brown ditched the row boat and headed off on foot. With several miles still to go, Brown did his best traversing the frozen Bay, when all of a sudden the weather made a turn for the worse. With colder temperatures Brown began to loose steam. About to give up, Brown heard the sound of voices in the distance. In a desperate attempt to save his life, he signalled for help. The loud sound managed to catch the attention of nearby Fisherman, who quickly came to Brown's aid and brought him to shore before hypothermia set in.

The Escape

In this escape room YOU will be Adam Brown. Your task is to break out of Red Rock Lighthouse, and journey across the frozen Bay in order to get home before Christmas Day. This isn't your typical walk in the park - you will be faced with challenging puzzles along the way! It is your job to solve the puzzles in under 1 hour and make it home before it's too late.

Can you navigate the frozen Bay and rural landscape to make it home in time?

What You Will Need

• At least 1 smartphone or tablet per team (The Museum will provide the Wifi password upon arrival)
• Notepad and pencil (You may want to work out problems, so make sure to bring something to scribble on)
• Up to 6 family members or friends!

This Escape Room Experience has been designed to be touchless in order to keep our community safe. Please follow the necessary precautions by bringing your own device, notepad and mask.
