Tom Thomson, a Canadian icon.

He revolutionized landscape painting in Ontario, inspiring his peers and generations of artist's that followed. His tragic and mysterious death further launched him into our hearts and heads. His life, art and death has been studied extensively.

Phil Chadwick, has his own opinions of Tom Thomson. And in a couple of hours with some well placed jokes, charming personality and a wealth of knowledge he turned his audience into believers. Tom Thomson, was not a landscape artist, he was a weatherman.

With a 38 year career in meteorology and years of studying Thomson's work Phil delivered an engaging and educational presentation that provided a unique, and original insight into one of Canada's most iconic figures.

Much has been written about Tom Thomson and people are passionate about his artwork, his story and of course the mystery of his passing.

Phil Chadwick is making his own contribution to the study of Thomson's work and is sharing that information October 4th.

Phil the Forecaster will introduce is theory Creative Scene Investigation or CSI and his application of it to one of Canada's most prolific artists, Tom Thomas.

"Mathematical statistics may convince some but I want to support my proof that “Tom Thomson Was A Weatherman” on a more fundamental basis and a direct connection to the reader. This can only be achieved by delving deeper than the pigments and into the hidden clues painted in plain sight.

"Secretly, my ultimate goal is that the reader develops a new way to look at images and art – Creative Scene Investigation.

"It is not hard to do. CSI might open up another realm of appreciation and maybe unlock the key to better understand the motivation and inspiration of the artist. By doing so, it may also inspire the reader to nurture a deeper appreciation of the arts and the natural world. It could possibly inspire a desire to protect the environment for all of its inhabitants just when the globe is facing its biggest crisis since the days the earth was covered by super volcanoes."
