About the Event
Join us on April 8th at 7pm (on Zoom), as we welcome Kenneth Jackson, a professional journalist, presenting "Meet the journalist behind Dynamite Bay & War on the Land". He will take us inside both investigations, including how the museum helped him tell the stories of Depot Harbour and Nobel.
Investigative journalist Kenneth was chasing Toronto drug dealers in Wasauksing First Nation when he first came to the district in 2024.
He met knowledge keepers like Elder Joyce Tabobondung, who spoke of fatal drug overdoses. She also mentioned Depot Harbour and her memories of the massive fire there in 1945.
Joyce captured Kenneth's attention, leading to the release of the documentary Dynamite Bay in 2025 on the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network, where Kenneth has worked since 2012. The Museum on Tower Hill helped Kenneth uncover the port's deep history through its archives.
