CONNECTING ME TO YOU

An Oral History Project

1998202017_edited.jpg

Connecting Me to You is an initiative that aims to collect oral interviews from local West Parry Sound District residents. We are asking our amazing community to help us capture more of the area's history by coming into the Museum and being interviewed by staff or by interviewing your family members at home and submitting the recording to the Museum.

The audio recordings developed through this project will help future generations understand what life was like for their ancestors, and will be made accessible for researchers coming into the Museum. The oral histories produced through this project will be preserved within the Museum's permanent collection, and held in public trust.

What You Have To Do:

  • Print off and read the Interview Guidelines & Tips pdf

  • Select a family member to interview and have them fill out the Interview Consent Form attached below

  • Come up with questions to ask during your interview

  • Find a quite spot to conduct your interview

  • Conduct the interview - don't forget to do an audio recording on a smartphone or computer

  • Submit the recording and Interview Consent Form to the Museum - We will do the rest from here!

Once the material is submitted to the Museum, the interviews will then be added to the collections database, where they will be made accessible to outside researchers. Participants will receive a copy of their audio interview and transcription upon its return to the Museum.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Connecting Me to You initiative, please feel free to contact the Museum at 705-746-5365 or info@museumontowerhill.com.
