The West Parry Sound District Museum's Research Library is home to a variety of resources that can be used to assist in personal research or genealogy work. The Museum houses many objects, photographs and archival documents, including the North Star newspaper, that may be able to assist you with your research.

A staff member or volunteer conducts primary and secondary source research and provides information to researcher.
Does not include in-person visit to Research Library or Collections Space.

It can take up to 15 business days to process the request.

Photos and scans (digital and physical) will be given out only after signing a Use Agreement with the museum.​ (Must state purpose of research and intended use when making request)

Accessing the Library:
The researcher is provided with access to the Museum’s secondary sources in our Research Library and conducts their own research. Staff will be available to briefly familiarize the researcher with Museum resources and to assist with photocopying.

Appointments are required for access to the Library and are subject to the availability of staff. Appointments must be made 1 week in advance to ensure availability. Walk-in's are not guaranteed access.
​
Access is year-round, Wednesday-Saturday, between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
​
Payment can be made at the Admissions desk at the Museum.

Accessing Materials from the Collection:
​
A staff member provides researcher access to specific primary source materials inside our collections space. The researcher is briefed with correct handling of objects.
Appointments are required for access to primary documents within the collection and must be made a minimum of 2 weeks in advance to ensure availability of staff and materials. Walk-in's are not able to be accommodated.

Staff will conduct a 'quick look-up' to determine if the information, artifacts etc. are present in the collection and able to be accessed before confirming booking. Appointments may be turned down if the condition of the requested materials is poor in order to ensure preservation efforts. ​
